Chemistry
I - The idea of assigning quantum
numbers for every individual electron in an atom is explored further as
students focus on the outer shell electrons and the orbit, orbital, and spin
each one has. The Laser Lab uses nanotechnology to find the spacing
between tracks on a CD. Classes and students judge their individual
and group accuracy and precision in order to evaluate and improve measuring and
lab skills. Various electron configuration notations, including short-hand,orbital,
and dot notation are studied.

Chemistry - Naming acids and bases
will be reviewed and the concept of titration to find an unknown molarity is
introduced. Ions need to be memorized in order to be able to name
the acids. Different types of acid definitions are given in order to
understand how acids play a role in living systems. The acid-base
lab explores reactions of both.
Monday:
1. acid
base labs back
2. virtual
titration lab
Tuesday:
1. grade

This week we will continue our application of equilibrium to
determine reaction shifts using LeChatelier's Principle and the equilibrium constant.
We will use a virtual lab to tests these shifts. The common ion effect
will be introduced and its role in equilibrium shifting will be explored in
several short labs.
Monday:
1. finish
notes on LeChatelier’s Principle
2. worksheet 1 and quiz tomorrow
3. worksheet 2 due Wednesday
4. virtual lab
