WEEK 6 - Lesson Plans for Feb 10 - 14 (half-day)
Chemistry I - Students will finish up ch 4 and ch 5 with the alkali metals lab. Analogies of the atom as well as model drawings are reviewed before the test. Review assessments are graded . Chapter 6 is started where we learn the different types of bonding and how to predict which type will occur. We will explore ionic and covalent bonding through demos and videos and then work on hooking up ions to make and name ionic compounds.

Week
Five: 2/3– 2/7 Lesson Plans
Chemistry
I - This week will focus on using notations to predict the reactivity and
properties of an element based on the atom's electron
configuration. We will use quantum number theory to assign a
position to the last electron in a particular element's
orbit. Students will analyze and apply a prison or school building
as a model for the atomic quantum number theory instead of the hotel analogy
used in the beginning of the unit. We will also look back at our
atomic diagrams that students did before the unit to see how much we have
learned over the past three units.
