WEEK 12 - Lesson Plans for 3/22 - 3/26

WEEK 12 - Lesson Plans for 3/22 - 3/26

Chemistry I -  As we continue looking at the difference between polar covalent, non-polar covalent, and ionic compounds both quantitatively and qualitatively, students will continue naming and writing formulas of each.  Lewis structures are introduced, implementing our past knowledge of electron dot notation.  This gives students a visual model of why things bond covalently or ionically too.  The Penny Lab has students dropping water droplets on to a penny to look at the properties of water due to hydrogen bonding.  This gets pretty competitive and exciting!
