Week 17 - 2017
Lesson Plans CHEMISTRY I
December 4th – 8th
This week will finish
exploring chapter 3 - the atom. Converting
atoms to mols to mass will revisit dimensional analysis and apply that
knowledge to how scientists average isotopic mass on the periodic table. Several assessments will be given to check on
understanding of the concept of the mol, hyphen and nuclear symbol notation,
and conversion factors. We will delve
into chapter 4 - light and energy - with an introduction into spectrum tubes
and signature light colors of the elements.
The Flame Test lab will show this using fire where the spectrum tubes
excite electrons using electricity.
Monday:
1. pop quiz 1 back
2. Grade Worksheet II and 3.3
3. last quiz tomorrow
4. atomic review due
tomorrow
5. Start chapter 4 notes if time
6. spectrum tubes if time
Tuesday:
1. grade atomic review
2. pop quiz 2
3. continue spectrum tubes and
ch 4 notes
Wednesday:
1. pop quiz 2 back

Lesson Plans ADV. CHEMISTRY December
4th – 8th
We will finish our
unit in Nuclear Chemistry, focusing on the different types of radioactive decay
and its effects on human tissue. Fukishima
will be discussed as well as the concept of radioiotopes and uses in
society. The difference between a
fission and fusion reactor is investigated.
We will finish our half-life and decay assessments in preparation for the
chapter test before break.
Monday:
1. half-life quiz back
2. decay 2 due and grade
3. radioactivity uses due
tomorrow
4. decay 3 due Weds
5. radioisotopes notes
Tuesday:
1. decay 3 due
2. grade Carbon dating
3. radioactive food due
4. continue notes on
radioisotopes
Wednesday:
1. grade radioactive food
2. notes on fission and fusion
Thursday:
1. practice essay on fission
reactor
2. finish notes
3. radioactive review for test
Friday: 11:30 dismissal
Lesson Plans AP CHEMISTRY December
4th – 8th
The kinetics unit
will continue as we work example kinetics problems through lecture and problems
to distinguish between zero thru third order reaction rates problems. Labs will emphasize the value of a controlled
experiment, especially when time is the variable in question. AP Review Chapter over Kinetics will be due
after break. A holiday ornament lab will
use the principles of kinetics and also introduce electrochemistry - our next
topic - as we make a silver/glass plated ornament for the holidays.
Monday:
1. labs due - look over data
2. worksheet II is overdue!
3. notes and bozemans
4. worksheet III due
5. kinetics chapter review due
when we return from break
Tuesday:
1. grade worksheet III
2. finish notes and bozeman
Wednesday:
1. kinetics quiz I
2. Holiday pre-lab
3. kinetics 4 worksheet due when
we return from break
4. kinetics AP review also due
when we return over break
Thursday: Holiday Lab
