Week 16 Lesson Plans
for November 26th - 30th
Chemistry I - The
atom and its discovery will be explored in chapter 3 as well as the concept of
the mol (an amount of substance) will be introduced in a lab.

Advanced Chemistry
- We will continue our unit in Nuclear Chemistry, focusing on the different
types of radioactive decay and its effects on human tissue. Three Mile Island and Chernobyl will be
discussed as well as the concept of half-life.
A half-life simulation using Skittles is performed to plot out and graph
half-life. An assessment on nuclear
stability where one compares the stability of different isotopes to pick the
more stable one will be given. Students
will need to begin studying the different types of particles, their symbols,
and their charges and masses.
Monday:
1. Continue notes over decay
and Chernobyl
2. decay worksheet #1 due
tomorrow
Tuesday:
1. grade decay #1
2. Chernobyl discussion and
videos, notes over hazards and safety
3. decay #2 due tomorrow
4. decay quiz tomorrow
Weds:
1. grade decay #2
2. quiz over it
3. Notes thru Chernobyl and
half-life
4. decay #3 due Friday
Thursday:
1. Quiz back
2. Half-life notes
3. decay #3 due Friday
4. half-life worksheet #1
together in class
5. half-life worksheet #2 due
Monday
Friday:
1.
decay #3 due
2.
half-life worksheet #2 due Monday
3.
Skittles half-life Lab and graph due Tuesday
AP Chemistry - Students will finish the week preparing for
the end of the unit test on Thursday. We
will work on more Ksp problems and assessments.
Review Chapter 3 – Nuclear Chemistry - will be returned. WYSE Wednesday is established where we
practice for the WYSE Chemistry test individually trying some problems and then
breaking into smarty pants groups to share and discuss before going over the
answers.
Monday:
1. Equilibrium review back
2. Nuclear review back
3. Labs back
