Week 7:
Lesson Plans September 28th –October 2nd
Chemistry
I - This week we will continue our measurement unit, focusing on heats of
combustion with the glucose and fatty acid molecules designed and tested in the
WebMO Computational Lab. Students will test the marshmallow and chip for
amount of energy produced when burned and evaluate the data collected by each
class. We will also delve deeper into our discussion of dimensional
analysis, scientific notation, calculating with exponents, and using
significant digits.
Monday:
1.
Practice set 2 and
temperature and energy worksheets due
2.
WebMO is overdue!
3.
Finish energy slides
4.
Energy of Foods –
three glucose trials with marshmallows
5.
Sig fig practice
worksheet due Thursday
Wednesday:
1.
Chip trials
2. Go over data calculations
3. Put data on excel
Friday:
1. Put data on excel
2. Sig fig notes
3. Sig fig practice set
4. Labs due Tuesday
Adv. Chemistry – This week will continue our exploration into
stoichiometry. Students will evaluate their data so far for the reaction
stoichiometry lab. Limiting reactants
will be explored further. We will also revisit the concept of molarity or
concentration and have a molarity lab where students prepare certain
concentrations of various chemical solutions. Multiple short quizzes will
assess these concepts.
Tuesday:
1. Go over Stoich Quiz 1
2. Notes on limiting
3. Stoich Quiz #2
4. Finish Reaction Lab data
5. Stoich II worksheet due
6. Limiting due Thursday
Thursday:
1. quiz back
2. limiting homework due
3. finish notes on stoichiometry and begin molarity notes
4. stoich #3 quiz Monday
