Week 14 Lesson Plans
for November 16th – 20th
Chemistry I - Assessment
for the Measurement Unit will be a two part test combining dimensional analysis
with significant figures, metric system, specific heat, scientific notation,
and rounding rules - with everything in between! The atom is explored in chapter 3. Students were asked to draw an iron atom,
labeling where the protons, electrons, neutrons, and nucleus are located as
well as a way to key them out in the drawing.
This activity inspires the students to learn more about these subatomic
particles and shows them that it has been a while since they last visited the
atom. The concept of the mol (an amount
of substance) will be introduced in the mol lab. Students will learn about the history of the
atom.
Monday:

Chemistry - This
week we will continue our discussion with various gas laws in the Gas Laws
Unit. A short quiz will act as an assessment for each law. Students
will perform the Cartesian Diver Lab and design a cartesian diver of their own
to demonstrate and explain Boyle's Law. Best diver wins a smarty
pants! Smarty Pants awards will be given
to the class with the best Marshmallow Man to put in the vacuum chamber -
another way to show Boyle's Law!
Tuesday:
1.
Turn in review
2. Chapter 6 TEST
3. Work
on Boyle’s Law problems 6-8 due Thursday
4. Pick up Boyle’s Law worksheet due Monday with
quiz over it Monday
5. Cartesian Diver race on Monday Homeroom
