WEEK FOUR: 1/22 – 1/26
Chemistry I Lesson Plans - The idea of assigning quantum numbers for every individual electron in
an atom is explored further as students focus on the outer shell electrons and
the orbit, orbital, and spin each one has.
The Laser Lab uses nanotechnology to find the spacing between tracks on
a CD. Classes and students judge their
individual and group accuracy and precision in order to evaluate and improve
measuring and lab skills. The Periodic
Table is further explored as trends in each main group are studied.
Monday:

Adv. Chemistry Lesson Plans - Naming acids and bases will be reviewed and the concept of titration to
find an unknown molarity is introduced.
Ions need to be memorized in order to be able to name the acids. Different types of acid definitions are given
in order to understand how acids play a role in living systems. The acid-base lab explores reactions of both.
Monday:
1. finish acid base lab -
reports due Friday
2. naming ions due tomorrow
3. notes on naming acids
Tuesday:
1. grade naming ions
2. give ion list for quiz Friday
3. continue notes on naming
acids
4. naming acids and naming bases
review sheets - due Friday
5. finish naming acids side of
ions paper for Thursday
Weds:
1. strong acid/strong base pop
quiz
2. continue notes into titration
Thurs:
1. MOM demo
2. grade naming ions and acids
worksheet
3. continue notes into titration
4. ion quiz tomorrow
5. titration worksheet due
Monday
Friday:
1. grade naming acids and naming
bases reviews
2. ion quiz
3. continue notes on titrations
4. titration worksheet due
Monday
AP Chemistry Lesson Plans - this week concludes the equilibrium and kinetics units we have been
studying first semester. These topics
will be seen again during our reviews of acid-base chemistry and thermodynamics. Chapter 8 review discusses phase diagrams and
how to read them. These diagrams are
standard on the AP test and most Chemistry tests. We will being our study of electrochemistry
by revisiting ion charges and learning about oxidation numbers - how an atom's
charge can change based on what atom it is bonded with
Monday:
1.
kinetics test
back and go over
2.
chapter 8 review
