WEEK ONE LESSON PLANS for Jan
3rd - 5th
Chemistry
I
We will continue our
discussion of electrons and how light acts continuing our spectrum tubes
analysis and observing the signature light colors of the elements. The Flame Test lab will show this using fire
where the spectrum tubes excite electrons using electricity. The dual nature of light will be explored
using two equations to find wavelength, frequency, and energy of radiation.
Wednesday:
1. flame test lab reports due with turnitin
2.
ch 4 notes continued
3.

Adv.
Chemistry:
Our new unit to start the new year is
acid-base. Many students know what
things are acidic like pop or vinegar, but few recognize alkaline or basic
chemicals like ammonia or baking soda.
We will being our unit learning about pH and how we can test a
substance's pH. Students will make
predictions about common household items and then run tests to see if those
predictions are correct. This will be
the cue set for the unit.
Wednesday:
1. What
it Is Lab
2. reports due next Weds 1/10 with turnitin due
by Friday 1/12
Thursday:
1.
