Week
Three: 1/16 – 1/19
Chemistry I Lesson Plans - We
will continue to look at notations for quantum numbers to give the location of
electrons in the electron cloud. These
positions determine the reactivity of an atom and predictions can be made about
properties of an element based on the outer shell electrons. Lasers will be used to determine the distance
between tracks on a CD. Nanotechnology
is introduced in this way. Orbital
notation and electron dot notation are added to our notes. In-class practice of these notations takes
place this week while some groups work on the laser labs.
Tuesday:
1.
Finish notes on short-hand and orbital
2.
Start Laser Lab
3.
Set I in class
4.
set II due by
Thursday
Wednesday:
1.
Finish notes on
orbital notation
2.
Notations 1 due Friday
3.
laser lab rotation
3. complete problem set II
4. pick
up notations 2 - due Monday
Thurs:
1.
notations 1 due
tomorrow
2.
quiz over notations tomorrow
3.
notations 2 due
Monday
4.
laser lab rotation
Friday:
1. grade notations 1
2. quiz over notations
3. notations 2 due Monday
4. go over laser lab class data
5. laser labs - go
over data
Adv. Chemistry
Lesson Plans - Students will continue exploring the pH of a solution to
determine if it is an acid or a base using mathematical formulae. Properties of acids and bases will be
explored as well as naming them. Short
quizzes are used throughout the week to check mastery.
Tuesday:
1. pH paper due
2. notes on naming acids
3. naming ions worksheet due
Thursday
Weds:
1. grade pH paper
2. pH quiz tomorrow
3. strong acids and strong bases
quiz tomorrow
4. H+/OH- worksheet due Friday
Thurs:

2. strong acids and bases quiz
tomorrow
3. naming ions worksheet due and
grade
4. H+/OH- worksheet due Friday
5. continue notes
6. naming acids worksheet due
Monday
Friday:
1. grade H+/OH- worksheet
2. strong acids and bases quiz
3. continue notes
4. naming bases worksheet due
Tuesday
AP
Chemistry Lesson Plans - Chapter
8 (phase diagrams) is continued and phase diagrams are explored. Kinetics
unit is coming to an end with a rate law lab - data is compared and
studied. An end of the unit Kinetics
Test will act as our assessment for mastery.
Tuesday:
1.
finish Pearson's
kinetics group quiz and free response
2.
put kinetics lab
data on excel
3.
