Week 6 - Lesson Plans Sept 17th-21st
Chemistry I – The objective this
week is to finish up our unit on physical and chemical properties and changes
and the review of the elements for a Chapter test. We will begin our unit on measurement with a
lab on qualitative analysis at the end of the week. This is different than quantitative analysis
which involves numbered measurements.
Qualitative analysis uses descriptive analysis, such as
precipitates. Ask your student what a
precipitate is and how to spell it. We
were introduced to precipitates in the last lab.

Adv. Chemistry – This week will finish
our exploration into stoichiometry.
Students will evaluate their three day lab on making a bottle rocket
using sodium bicarbonate (the limiting reactant) and vinegar (the excess reactant).
Students will be assessed on limiting
reactant stoichiometry. We will also
revisit the concept of molarity or concentration and have a molarity lab where
students prepare certain concentrations of various chemical solutions. Stoichiometry and molarity are the two most
important topics to understand in Chemistry and encompass every unit of study.
Monday:
1. Stoichiometry Review due
tomorrow
2. Rocket Labs due tomorrow
3. Stoich quiz on limiting Tuesday
4. test Thursday and Friday over

Chemistry – This week we will continue our application of equilibrium to
determine reaction shifts using LeChatelier's Principle and the equilibrium
constant. LeChatelier's Principle will
be explored with a lab in preparation of a quiz next week. Periodic Table review from the summer will
