Chemistry  - We are starting our measurement unit and focusing on good lab skills to show accuracy and precision and making good measuring decisions.  We will consider various types of measuring devices available in lab during the Measurement Lab to see if the beaker, graduated cylinder, or the buret is a more precise tool of measuring volume.  We will also look at qualitative descriptors in the precipitate lab.

Adv. Chemistry  - This week we will finish our discussion about limiting reactants and finishing the stoichiometry unit with a test.  The concept of molarity in concentration will be explored in the Molarity Lab.  Students will prepare specific concentrations of an unknown solution and its properties will be tested.

Chemistry I – The objective this week is to finish up our unit on physical and chemical properties and changes and the review of the elements for a Unit 2 test.  Lab reports are discussed.  Lab data will be covered on the test.  Please study the elements!

Adv. Chemistry – This week will continue our exploration into stoichiometry.  Students will evaluate their data so far for the reaction stoichiometry lab.  The third trial is done to evaluate precision and accuracy.  Limiting reactants will be explored further.  We will also revisit the concept of molarity or concentration and have a molarity lab where students prepare certain concentrations of various chemical solutions.  Multiple short quizzes will assess these concepts.

Chemistry I – This week we will be getting into the lab to cut, fire polish, and bend glass tubing.  This allows me to identify the pyromaniacs and deviants so I am aware of their presence in the lab.  It is fine to be fascinated by fire – I just want to be aware.  I certainly love fire myself.  We will also be reviewing unit I to prepare for the test over types of Chemistry and the scientific method.  Students will learn and identify lab equipment for the test as well.  Students are getting to know their books through a series of book worksheets developed to encourage the reading of the text.
