Week 18 - 2017 Lesson Plans

Week 18 - 2017

Lesson Plans CHEMISTRY I December 11th – 15th

We will continue our discussion of electrons and how light acts continuing our spectrum tubes analysis and observing the signature light colors of the elements.  The Flame Test lab will show this using fire where the spectrum tubes excite electrons using electricity.  The dual nature of light will be explored using two equations to find wavelenth, frequency, and energy of radiation.
Monday:
1.  test back
2.  continue notes on wavelength and frequency
3.  electromagnetic radiation problems due Friday
4.  Final Review pages 1 and 2 due tomorrow
5.  look at spectrum tubes

Tuesday:
1.  grade review pages 1 and 2
2.  continue notes
3.  finish spectrum tubes
4.  continue notes on Planck's equation
5.  Planck’s worksheet due after break
6.  flame test pre-lab

Wednesday:
1.  grade review pages 3 and 4
2.  Flame Test Lab – lab reports due after break
3.  begin lab

Thursday:
1.  grade review pages 5 and 6
2.  finish lab

Friday:
1.  work on lab reports
2.  electromagnetic radiation problems due
3.  work on Planck's worksheet

Lesson Plans ADV. CHEMISTRY December 11th – 15th

The difference between a fission and fusion reactor is further investigated.  Students will run a nuclear simulator designed to test them on control of a fission reactor.  They must keep an average of 1500 kW for their city without brown-outs, black-outs, or a nuclear meltdown.  We will grade the Nuclear Chemistry Review in preparation for our test Thursday.
Monday:
1.  grade pages 1-3 of review
2.  Test on Thursday
3.  Decay practice set

Tuesday: Nuclear Simulation

Wednesday:
1.  grade pages 4-6 of Review
2.  Half-life practice set

Thursday: RADIOACTIVE TEST - Day One

Friday:  RADIOACTIVE TEST - Day Two

Lesson Plans AP CHEMISTRY December 11th – 15th

The kinetics unit will continue as we work example kinetics problems through lecture and problems to distinguish between zero thru third order reaction rates problems.  Labs will emphasize the value of a controlled experiment, especially when time is the variable in question.  AP Review Chapter over Kinetics will be due after break.  A holiday ornament lab will use the principles of kinetics and also introduce electrochemistry - our next topic - as we make a silver/glass plated  ornament for the holidays.
Monday:  HOLIDAY LAB ROUND TWO
1.  Kinetics Quiz back
2.  Kinetics 4 due tomorrow
3.  Daily 10 Kinetics due Weds
4.  quiz Thursday

Tuesday:
1.  grade Kinetics 4
2.  continue notes and bozeman

Wednesday:
1.  ion quiz
2.  go over Daily 10
3.  finish notes and bozeman if needed

Thursday:
1.  Kinetics Quiz 2
2.  finish notes and bozeman if needed

Friday:
1.  Kinetics Quiz 3
2.  finish notes and bozeman if needed

3.  Kinetics AP chapter review due after break
