Week 18 Lesson Plans - December 10th – 15th

Week 18 Lesson Plans - December 10th – 15th

CHEMISTRY I - This week will finish exploring chapter 3 - the atom - with a test.  Students are continuing to explore what an atom looks like and will be comparing and contrasting models and analogies throughout chapter four as well.   We will delve into chapter 4 - light and energy - with an introduction into spectrum tubes and signature light colors of the elements.  When we return from break, the Flame Test lab will show this using fire where the spectrum tubes excite electrons using electricity.

Monday:
1.  pop quiz 1 back
2.  Grade relative atomic mass and atomic quiz review
3.  test Wednesday
4.  atomic review due tomorrow
5.  Start ch 4 notes

Tuesday:
1.  grade atomic review
2. start spectrum tubes and ch 4 notes

Wednesday:
1.  ATOMIC QUEST
2.  Pick up final review for exam - due Monday

Thursday:
1.  ATOMIC QUEST back
2.  continue spectrum tubes demo
3.  pick up Flame Test Lab - pre-lab preparation for tomorrow

Friday:
1.  finish spectrum tubes demo
2.  Flame Test Lab - reports due after break
3.  final review for exam - due Monday

Monday:
1.  grade final review
2.  flame test lab reports in class

ADV. CHEMISTRY  - We will finish our unit in Nuclear Chemistry with an assessment test.  Students will run a simulated nuclear reactor to get an idea of how a fission reactor works and how control rods and different types of water are used to regulate it.  Final exam reviews are also handed out.

Monday:
1.  grade review pages 1-3
2.  finish videos

Tuesday:
1.  grade review pages 4-6
2.  Sasha presentation

Wednesday:
1.  NUCLEAR TEST
2.  Final review worksheet - due Monday

Thursday:
1.  test back
2.  begin simulator activity

Friday:
1.  finish simulator with chart
2.  work on final review due Monday

Monday:   grade final review

AP CHEMISTRY  - The kinetics unit will begin as we work example kinetics problems through lecture and problems to distinguish between zero thru third order reaction rates problems.   A holiday ornament lab will use the principles of kinetics and also introduce electrochemistry - our next topic - as we make a silver/glass plated  ornament for the holidays.

Monday:
1.  equilibrium test back
2.  start kinetics notes with bozemans

Tuesday:
1.  continue kinetics notes with graphs
2.  kinetics worksheet 1 due Monday

Wednesday:
1.  WYSE test individually then in groups in pair/share
2.  kinetics worksheet 1 due Monday

Thursday:   Holiday Pre-Lab

Friday:   Holiday Lab

Monday:
1.  finish ornament
2.  kinetics 1 worksheet due and grade
3.  kinetics 2 worksheet for after break
4.  final is the AP multiple choice diagnostic portion of the AP test
