Week 9 Lesson Plans October 13-16

Week 9 Lesson Plans October 13-16

Chemistry - This week we will continue our measurement unit, focusing on dimensional analysis, scientific notation, calculating with exponents, and using significant digits.  A series of problems sets using conversion factors helps combine all these important ideas.  Last week we created a three-layer density column in a test tube using just sugar, water, and food coloring – the creations were very colorful an impressive!

Tuesday:

1.      Grade sig fig and metric conversions worksheet

2.      Notes on percent error

3.      Density worksheet and mini-lab due at end of hour

4.      worksheet conversion worksheet1 together in class

5.      worksheet 2 due Thursday

6.      sig fig quiz Thursday

Thursday:

1.         Sig Fig and metric quiz

2.         Grade density worksheet

3.         Go over cf #2

4.         Percent error and mo prac sig figs due Monday

5.         Work conversion factors #3 and #4 for Monday return!

Advanced Chemistry - This week we will finish our molarity and stoichiometry unit with various quizzes as assessments before the test.  The Molarity Lab showed students how to prepare solutions.  Our next unit is from last year – molecular geometry – and we will start our study in to bond types, angles, hybridization, and structures using WebMO, a computational chemistry drawing tool, to design and analyze many molecules.

Wednesday:

1.       Stoich quiz 2 back

2.       Grade Stoich review

3.       Test next week on Tuesday

4.       Molarity Lab and Limiting worksheet due

5.       Limiting quiz
