WEEK 2: Lesson Plans for January 8th - 12th

WEEK 2:  Lesson Plans for January 8th - 12th

Chemistry I :
We will finish our discussion on the dual nature of light using two equations to find wavelength, frequency, and energy of radiation.  Quantum numbers and notations will be introduced to give the location of electrons in the electron cloud.  These positions determine the reactivity of an atom and predictions can be made about properties of an element based on the outer shell electrons.  Lasers will be used to determine the distance between tracks on a CD.  Nanotechnology is introduced in this way.

Monday:
1.  flame test back
2.  electromagnetic radiation quiz back
3.  grade Planck's prob
4.  quiz over it
5.  4.1 side due tomorrow
6.  4.1 review due Weds
7.  notes on notations - s block
8.  laser lab - start

Tuesday:
1.       Plank's quiz back
2.       grade 4.1 side
3.       4.1 review due tomorrow
4.       notes and practice on notations - p-block
5.       continue laser lab

Wednesday
1.  grade 4.1 electron arrangement review sheet
2.  4.2 practice problems I side in class
3.  laser lab
4.  notations notes -d - block and orbital notations

Thursday:
1.  notations notes -short-hand and dot notation
2.  work on set I and get it checked
3.  rotate thru laser lab

Friday: early out
1.  finish notes on notations if  needed
2.  work on set II
3.  rotate thru laser lab

Adv. Chemistry :
Students will learn how to find the pH of a solution to determine if it is an acid or a base using mathematical formulae.  Properties of acids and bases will be explored in the Acid/Base Lab as well as in class  notes and discussion.

 Monday:
1.  What It Is Lab reports due with turnitin
2.  begin notes on acids and bases

Tuesday:
1.  pH paper due next Tuesday
2.  notes over Lewis acids and bases

Weds:
1.  continue notes
2.  work on pH paper
3.  give ion list for ion quiz Tuesday
4.  naming ions sheet due Tuesday
5.  Acid Base Pre-Lab
