Week 9 - Lesson Plans for 2/26 - 3/2

Week 9 - Lesson Plans for 2/26 - 3/2

Chemistry I - As we continue naming and writing formulae for ionic and covalent compounds, we will have labs reflecting both.  Ionic compounds will be made and examined in the Ionic Bond Lab and the covalent compound, water, will be tested to examine the special properties of this polar molecule.

Monday:
1.  grade naming #1
2.  ionic bonding lab
3.  writing #1 due tomorrow
4.  set #3 due Thursday

Tuesday:
1.  grade writing #1
2.  finish lab
3.  set #2 due

Weds:
1.  grade naming #2
2.  work on lab reports due Friday with turnitin due Monday midnight
3.  quiz II tomorrow over naming and writing and electronegativity
4.  Penny Lab

Thursday:
1.  grade writing #2
2.  quiz II over naming and writing and electronegativity
3.  Penny Lab

Friday:
1.       quiz II back
2.       finish Penny Lab
3.       naming and writing #3 due
4.  Ionic Bonding Labs due

Adv. Chemistry  - We will be finishing up our discussion on acids and bases, specifically how to find the pH of a weak base using the Ka, acid dissociation constant, and ICE tables.  We will review the unit in its entirety for the acid-base exam and also introduce buffer systems to better understand the link between our well-being and our blood pH.

Monday:
1.  Ka quiz
2.  finish acid base review for tomorrow
3.  acid-base test on Friday/Monday

Tuesday:
1.  ion quiz tomorow
2.  Ka quiz back
3.  Ka quiz II

Wednesday:
1.  ion quiz
2.  Ka quiz II back
3.  grade part one of review
4.  pH review sheet
5.  Test Friday and Monday
