Chemistry I Lesson Plans September
22nd - 25th
This week is Challenge Days
Week so many of the students are gone at least one day this week out of class
from Monday through Thursday. Because of
this, we will do a lab to start off our measurement unit with a qualitative (descriptive)
measurement lab using precipitates to indicate a reaction has occurred. The rest of the week will focus on completing
this lab, writing the lab report for it, and preparing for our next wet lab –
The Energy of Foods Lab – by using the computational chemistry program WebMO to
design and analyze a carbohydrate and a fat.
Monday:
1. Tests back
2. Qualitative Analysis Lab - due Friday 9/25
with turnitin.com by midnight Sat.
Tuesday:
1. work on lab reports in class
2. submit to turnitin.com
3. Getting to Know ch 2 worksheet due Thursday
Wednesday:
1. Finish Labs and reports – due Friday
2. Worksheet 1 and 2 on scientific notation and
exponential notation due Friday
Thursday:
1. WebMO Activity for Energy of Foods Lab
2. Worksheet 3 and 4 due Monday
Friday:
1. Lab report due
2. Finish WebMO Activity
3. Complete worksheets 1 and 2 due Monday and 3
and 4 due Tuesday

This week is Challenge Days
Week so many of the students are gone at least one day this week out of class
from Monday through Thursday. Because of
this, we will work on our stoichiometry air bag lab to determine which reactant
runs out first – baking soda or vinegar and what the best recipe is for filling
a snack size baggie with those reactants to fill the baggie completely without
popping it. We will also review the unit
for our test which is Tuesday of next week.
Monday: finish air
bag lab and find out what is limiting and in excess
Tuesday:
1. Stoichiometry limiting quizzes back
2. Finish review due tomorrow
3. Limiting worksheet in class – due Friday
Weds:
1. Grade Review
2. Molarity notes and handout
3. ch 9 worksheet due tomorros
4. limiting worksheet due Friday
Thursday:
1. Finish molarity notes
2. grade ch 9 worksheet
3. Molarity worksheets due Monday
Friday:
1. grade Soichiometry limiting worksheet
2. Molarity notes - finish
3. Test Tuesday over Stoichiometry
